South Spencer Motorsports also had success in the High School Formula One competition. This event takes place at Road America Wisconsin, which is a track run by Indy Car and NASCAR teams. This competition involves members designing and building a vehicle and racing the vehicle in a two-day time trial event. A base frame and a sixteen horsepower V-twin Briggs and Stratton engine are standardized, but components such as tires, gearing, and steering allow much more creativity by the students in order to provide the best performance. Of the ten schools and fifteen vehicles, and despite less than ideal weather conditions, South Spencer was able to secure a fourth place finish.
